About
FreeGameDirectory, in plain English.
What is FreeGameDirectory?
FreeGameDirectory is a directory of free browser games organized by category. Every listed game is 100% free, requires no signup, and runs in your browser. We focus on tight, single-purpose games rather than mega-portals — each linked game has its own site and its own focused experience.
Who picks the games?
We do. FreeGameDirectory is editorial — we list games we have played and would recommend, not every free game on the web. The bar: a tight play loop (under 10 minutes per session), a distinct mechanic (not just a theme swap), and a clean ad-free gameplay area.
Are these games made by FreeGameDirectory?
The four primary games (LexSweep, NumGrid, MapDash, HexMerge) are built by the same team that runs FreeGameDirectory. We may add curated third-party recommendations over time but every game we list is one we have personally vetted.
Why not a mega-portal like Poki or Miniplay?
Mega-portals optimize for catalog size; we optimize for game quality. A focused single-game site ranks better in search than a buried subpage AND lets the game stand on its own brand. FreeGameDirectory is the thin discovery layer; the games live on their own dedicated sites.
